A Curious Collection of Cameos

'Scuuuuuuuuuuuse me, this is not what I ordeeeeeeeerd!!

As I was dinking around on NightCafe, creating a series of images that feature the Mayfair emerald necklace in a variety of styles, I occasionally encountered a particular type of hiccup.  I think these AI thingies tend to hallucinate too much, and these cameos are one way those hiccups appear.

I was going to do a collection of images of buildings and houses with some of the CRAZIEST details that could not possibly exist for long in real life.  It's my National Register of Hysterical Places.

Whenever I randomly get this particular result, I get all excited because honestly, they are pretty funny.  Can you imagine if a jeweler made one of these cameos?  Considering how incredibly detailed cameos usually are, I wouldn't be surprised if they already have.

Oh, yes.  I have several of this hilariously deranged result.  Speaking of imagery as an "end result"...

For the more...morbid...among you, if you are fascinated by cemetery stories, take a gander at YouTube sometime if you haven't already.  I've listened to a lot of these, and I can tell you that when they first began to appear all OVER YouTube, the technical issues were overshadowed by poor storytelling.  They seem to be getting a bit better.  Now, there are still little details such as the difference between a maiden name and a married name, what that looks like on a family tree, and unless it's a sci-fi story, humans just do not have lifespans as long as some characters have been given.

These are AI generated videos, as I understand it.  Now, boys and girls, say all you want about this type of content, but let me give you a peek into a part of my world I wish didn't exist.

I would much rather listen to something where a creator is at least trying to tell a good story rather than content creators angrily bashing one another in one livestream, one video, one Short, one community post after another.  What kind of content do these creators actually create?  Mayhem.  That IS their content.

I can stomach an AI generated voice telling a story involving the history of photography as part of the mystery.  I can tolerate the decreasing amounts of errors in familial relations of characters a lot better than I can tolerate what might as well be paraphrased as, "YOOOOOOemefferhowdareyoucallmybestfriendssistersboyfriendsferrisapinwheelyoustuckonmyheadinyourvideoiknowaguywhoknowsaguywhoknowsabratandthenyouwillbeSORRY!!!"

Cue the goat scream right HERE.

There are lots of these AI generated videos that have an AI generated voice telling creepy stories.  It's easy to tell where there is some sort of break in text, and generated narrators tend to give themselves away promptly when they read out a year as a number.  "One thousand nine hundred and..."  You get the picture.

Speaking of pictures, look at the thumbnail images of some of these cemetery videos.  They are not graphic to any particularly disturbing extent, no.  That's good because no one wants to hop onto YouTube, arrive at the site's landing page and have something gruesome scroll up in their face.

And if this anecdote does not make you at least appreciate the distraction the AI video flotsam for funsies provides, nothing will.

I certainly did not appreciate it when I got on YouTube's landing page a couple of years ago and was only going to glance at that section that let you know about any new community posts on channels I subscribe to--and was greeted with an up close and VERY personal PHOTO of a guerilla's HOO HAH--or was it a hippo?

I unsubscribed right then and there.  Of course I reported it like a good little YouTuber.  Come on, now.  And yes, that channel ended up being shut down by YouTube.

Getting back to what is oddly more palatable than that particular experience, if you look at the thumbnails of YouTube videos that are completely AI generated and they involve cemeteries, yeah, they show open caskets.  Nothing oogy, but someone didn't check the image before uploading it because that is not how casket lids open.  It's just weird.

Is my content all AI?  NO!!!

What you see here is something I do for fun, but I never dreamed I'd have to repeat this one until the END of TIME: I write my own text, d**mit.  3D models I build are built with actual software.  Animated graphics with a plain old fashioned photo editor like GIMP.  That sort of thing.  So, I allow myself to indulge in a little AI fun as an extra piece of my digital content puzzle.

I get the concerns about AI generated stuff.  Make no mistake about that.  And make no mistake about how I make my content.  If my content and how it was created are mischaracterized in any way, I will become irate.  Like my content, don't like it.  Whatever.  Just don't call it something it most certainly is NOT.  If AI was used in any way, I will say so.

It's best to put things in proper perspective first if you want to go on the warpath over AI or anything else.  But pick your battles wisely.

Let me guess--you're still going, "Guerihippo wuuuuuuuut...?"

That was a moment when I realized that the one responsible just wanted to bully someone else.  I will have none of it.
